How long does it take to get a masters degree?

Introduction:
Education is highly valuable. It is not just valuable because it helps you get better jobs that pay higher, but because of the experience and knowledge that it gives you. However, it does take some time and a lot of effort to get a good education. You can get several different degrees when you go to college. The first degree is an associates. The second is a Bachelors. The third is a Masters. The fourth is a Doctorate, or PHD. How long it takes kind of depends on you. The following are some instructions for how to get a Masters degree, and how long it takes to do so.
Difficulty level:
Moderate to difficult
Steps:
Step one:
Get accepted to college. This means getting good grades in high school, participating in extra curricular activities, doing community service, etc.
Step two:
Choose your course of study. You can start by just doing your generals, and getting them out of the way before you decide what you want to focus on, but you have to choose a focus at some point.
Step three:
Obtain an associates degree. If you go to a four year college, university, etc. usually this is something that just comes with your Bachelor's degree, most people who get awarded an associates degree go to a state college or community college that is often referred to as a two-year college. This is because if you went full time and took the required courses it would take you about two years to obtain this degree. Although it can be done faster, or much slower.

Step four:
Obtain a bachelor's degree. This is usually done in about four years of continuous study taking spring and summer semesters off, but going to the fall and winter semesters. Of course this degree can be accomplished in fewer years, for example you may enter college with some credits from Advanced Placement classes or independent study courses. Then you could take a heavy course load, and go spring and summer, and graduate in three years instead.
Step five:
Apply to a masters program. Most of the time to get a masters degree you have to get accepted into a masters program, so apply to the different programs you would want to do.
Step six:
Sign up for your classes, do the study, and research, and work involved. Usually in a master's program there are a lot of difficult level classes, and independent research, etc. required. This usually takes an additional two years after your Bachelors degree. Most do not do this much faster. If you choose a special sort of Master's degree, such as a law degree, it can take longer. Usually three more years.
Step seven:
Graduate. If you consider all of the work it takes to get to the point where you even can get a master's degree you are looking at six or so years of full time study. However, if you already have a bachelors and just want to get a masters it will probably take about three years. One year of taking tests etc. and applying to programs, and two years of study.
Things you will need:
- Acceptance into a masters program
- A bachelors degree in the right field of study
- Time for classes
- Money for tuition
