If you love the Caribbean, you must head to the small island of Saint Lucia. It lies on the eastern edge of the Caribbean Sea and it is absolutely breathtaking. Saint Lucia is popular for tourists not only because of the beautiful water, it is also popular because it was formed by a volcano and you can see the twin Pitons, the most famous landmark in Saint Lucia. The mountains are not only large and breathtaking to see, they are covered with tropical rainforests that are absolutely amazing.

The busy season is the dry season that runs from December to May. The wet season is from June to November. It is quite humid in Saint Lucia so you need to stay hydrated. The weather is usually great year-round so you don't have to worry too much about when you need to plan your vacation. Avoid September and October because this is when hurricane season is at its worst. The great part about Saint Lucia is that you can do a variety of activities like scuba diving, hiking, birdwatching, para-sailing, and snorkeling.

If you have never gone horseback riding on the beach, now is the time to do it. Saint Lucia provides the perfect setting to ride along the coast and its also a great place to go for a nice stroll along the beach or to go hiking along the coast and the mountains. There are breathtaking views of waterfalls and you can walk through the Botanical Gardens and view gorgeous plants.

Make sure you have a poncho or an umbrella because Saint Lucia averages about 4-5 inches of rain each month. This averages out to be about 17 days a month where you can expect rainfall. While you are in Saint Lucia, relaxation should be your main focus. The beaches are one of the main attractions to this attractive location. The beaches are open to the public. The most popular are Marigot Bay and Rodney Bay. This is where you can do some swimming, snorkeling, and horseback riding.

While you are focused on relaxing in Saint Lucia take advantage of the delicious restaurants. Creole is a popular spice in the area and it will definitely enlighten your taste buds. Fish is caught fresh daily but take advantage of pork and some of the other foods in the area.

The sun is warm and absolutely wonderful especially on Pigeon Island. Surprisingly Pigeon Island isn't too crowded which is great if you would like to head out for a nice day of sunbathing. Pigeon Island not only has beautiful beaches, it is also filled with delicious foods and fun activities like snorkeling. You can walk through the barracks that were used by the British in the 1700s. They were defending the island against the French and the locals have done a great job at keeping the barracks preserved.

If you have a knack for golf, Saint Lucia is a great place to go. The Saint Lucia Golf Resort and Country Club is an 18-hole golf course and it is very famous for it's breathtaking views. Several famous people have golfed at this beautiful location including Bill Clinton.

Head to Saint Lucia in May to listen to some of the best Jazz music you have ever heard. The Jazz festivals happen every may and they include great food and dancing. It's a great way to celebrate, especially if you are a romantic vacation and you need a little dining and dancing to make the vacation complete. The island is known for it's freshly made rum so if you like to drink, you'd better taste some while you are on vacation.
