Having proper office ergonomics will help you become more productive and you will find that your body feels better. When you are using improper office ergonomics, you may experience problems with back pain, knee pain, arm pain, and other issues. It is important to have a good posture when you are sitting as this will reduce the pain on your lower back and it will improve you figure. When you practice proper posture habits, it often makes your midsection look smaller, which is always a great benefit.
Ergonomic chairs come with lumbar support and they can help you improve your posture. The chair needs to be at the proper height with the computer screen and it must allow you to move comfortably. The chair should have arm rests as these help to release tension from other muscles like your neck muscles and shoulder muscles.
To work on your posture, make time to get up and stretch your back. Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in each day. Work on some exercises that will strengthen the back. Having a strong back will help you build a strong core, which is great for the summer bathing suit season.
If you are like most people and you sit all day long, you need to take breaks at least once every 120 minutes. Try to stand up for at least 5 minutes and if possible go for a brisk walk or stroll around the office. This is great for your back and its also great for other parts of your body like the legs. You want to keep your blood pumping. When you are in the static position too long, the blood will start to slow down and you can develop blood clots. Blood clots are extremely serious as they can cause strokes, heart attacks, and even death. If you make time to stretch your muscles each day, you can prevent blood clots from occurring.
To work on your posture, set some reminders for yourself. Try to catch yourself when you slouch so that you won't continue doing it. When the muscles get tired, they will become weak, which is why we have a tendency to slouch. Instead of slouching, stretch the back muscles and change positions to work different muscles. Your body is simply telling you that it is tired of the position it is in and it needs to change positions.
Try to get weekly or monthly massages. This is a great way to check on your posture as the massage therapist will release some of the tension in your muscles. You can also find out if you are slouching often and what you can do to improve this. Be sure to have her/him work on your neck muscles since most people carry a lot of tension in this area.
Each day you need to roll your shoulders back 3 times and then forward 3 times. Do some neck stretching too like holding your neck to one shoulder and then to the other for about 15-20 seconds. Try to lay down for a couple minutes in the middle of the day to give all of your muscles a moment to relax.
Try to keep your body aligned when you are standing. If you are a work environment, ask your employer if you can get some rubber mats to stand on. The rubber mats help to reduce muscle fatigue on the legs and strain on the back. Always purchase a goo pair of shoes that do not make your feet throb. Keep your weight properly balanced between your feet and it will help your posture.
